you'll love kenken!

it's sudoku plus a little math - the puzzle is divided into groups of numbers and the numbers in each group have to add up to, or multiply to equal, etc, a number in one of the blocks (for example if it's 4+ the numbers have to add up to 4). you still have to use digits only once in a row or column but the math has to work along with the number placement. just one more element to add to the fun - or frustration.

that being said, i play scrabble every night till the sun comes up

see i'm the opposite - scrabble drives me nuts because you have to have more of a vocabulary than i do. i know what words mean but i can't think of them when i'm just sitting there staring at letters. sudoku has everything you need right there, you don't have to figure out what goes into the puzzle just where it goes.

i knew you were going to say something like that when i posted this, since you said before how much you dislike them. ;) but i think phooka will like this, she posted about doing sudokus when i brought it up before.

i cheat at playing though. i am not good at firguring out words

how do you cheat? do you have one of those scrabble dictionaries to help you? i'm wondering how people get better at playing other than having a good vocabulary to begin with. or maybe good recall of their vocabulary is a better way to put it.

these puzzles have more than one name - i just bought a book called "kendoku" and they're exactly the same thing.
